PERIMENOPAUSE

What is perimenopause?

When does it happen?

Why does it happen?

When does it end?

The perimenopause is a natural transition time in your life when your periods start to change as ovaries produce less estrogen, causing irregular periods and a vast range of physical and mental symptoms.

There are a lot of changes that happen in our body during both perimenopause and menopause because of the fluctuating testosterone and estrogen levels. As there are receptors for these hormones in every single cell throughout our body, a decrease in levels can affect all systems.

Perimenopause may begin as early as your mid-30s or as late as your mid-50s. Some people are in perimenopause for only a short time, while others are in it for several years. Some have no symptoms and others experience them all.

Perimenopause is a transitional time that ends in menopause. You have officially reached menopause when you have not have any periods for a period of 12 months straight.
